A Little About Me

Dr. Zeljka Macura is an applied social psychologist, learning designer, and program evaluator who holds a PhD in Applied Social Psychology from The George Washington University. Her research spans the intersection of social behavior, social media, and health as well as the future of professional education and health service psychology. She has always been drawn to a space where rigorous research meets real people and real problems, and that curiosity is what drives her every day.

For nearly a decade, Dr. Macura had the privilege of working at the American Psychological Association where she designed and led continuing education programs, built evaluation frameworks, and collaborated with subject matter experts to translate complex knowledge into learning experiences that actually move people forward.

She founded Macura Applied Consulting because she believes every organization doing meaningful work deserves dedicated, evidence-informed expertise in their corner. Nonprofits, professional associations, and healthcare teams are often doing incredibly important work and having a committed dedicated advisor with the right skills can take that work even further. 

 

Working with Dr. Macura means working directly with a dedicated partner who shows up fully invested in your mission, your people, and your outcomes.

Beyond the Work

Outside of work, she is a proud mom to a small but mighty family, including a senior pug who thinks he runs the house and a rambunctious cat who is absolutely certain she does.

When she's not working, she is happiest exploring the world. She believes there is no better education than immersing yourself in a new culture, tasting unfamiliar food, and letting a place surprise you. She is also someone who is always chasing a new physical challenge. If it's hard, a little uncomfortable, and requires real effort, she's interested. ​

Her favorite pastime is simple, a really good cup of coffee and a conversation that goes somewhere unexpected. Some of the best ideas she's ever had started exactly that way.
